Press Release: Government must improve access to student bursaries


Commenting on the Office for Fair Access report published today, showing that many universities are falling short of their duties to allocate bursaries.

Shadow Secretary of Sate for Innovation, Universities and Skills, David Willetts said:

“This shows bursaries aren’t working. 12,000 people are not claiming them because they are so complicated. We want to widen participation but that means the Government has got to do better by improving access to bursaries.”
