Press Release: Prospective students need better information about universities
Commenting on the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) study on the effectiveness of university league tables, which says many prospective students feel dissatisfied with them.
Shadow Innovation, Universities and Skills Secretary David Willetts said:
“Prospective students and their parents need good quality information about universities. Without this, the drop-out rate will stay high and it will be harder for us to recruit the best international students.
“At the moment, the information is not good enough. It can be contradictory, incomplete and difficult to access.
“I want to see more robust and relevant information for prospective students available on the web. This is a key way to tackle the Government’s failure on widening participation in higher education.”
