An attempt to explain what Modernising the Conservative Party means, drawing on the recently published first edition of After The Landslide.
The only reason that the Conservative Party has survived for 200 years is that it has changed as national mores and culture have changed. Together with a rejection of libertarianism as the future of the Conservative party and my personal definition of my Conservativism as “ a free marketeer with children”. But I argue that in 2000 Conservatism should be the party of freedom as an alternative to a certain moral prissiness.
